Help

Troubleshooting ClipOffline downloads and the MP3/MP4 plugin.

Quick-start checklist

  • Install the MP3/MP4 plugin from /plugin.
  • Make sure the plugin app is running.
  • Retry the download from ClipOffline.com.
  • Check your Downloads folder.
  • Keep the browser tab open for long downloads.

Plugin not detected

  • Ensure the plugin is installed and launched.
  • On macOS, confirm the app is allowed to run if you see a Gatekeeper prompt.
  • On Windows, confirm the app is running in the system tray.
  • Refresh the page, restart your browser, and restart the plugin.
  • Review /plugin and /how-it-works.

Download stuck / no progress

  • Large files can take time; keep the plugin open.
  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • Try a smaller quality or audio-only option.
  • Restart the plugin and retry the download.
  • If the source is rate-limiting, try later.
  • ClipOffline does not control third-party bandwidth.

We stopped receiving updates from the plugin

  • The plugin may still be downloading—check your Downloads folder.
  • If no file appears, retry the download and restart the plugin.
  • Re-initiate the job from ClipOffline.com if needed.
  • The website only coordinates the request; the plugin does the fetching locally.

Browser didn’t open the plugin

  • The browser may block the protocol open.
  • Look for the “Open ClipOffline” prompt and allow it.
  • Ensure pop-up blockers aren’t blocking the handoff.
  • Retry the download and allow it once.

File saved somewhere else

  • The default save location is your Downloads folder.
  • OS and browser settings can change where files are saved.
  • If you adjust download locations, confirm the chosen folder.

Private / paywalled / DRM-protected content

  • ClipOffline is for content you have rights to use.
  • Do not attempt to bypass paywalls or DRM.
  • Some sources cannot be downloaded due to technical or legal restrictions.

Uninstalling the plugin

  • macOS: quit the app, then move it to the Trash.
  • Windows: uninstall it via Apps/Programs.
