Troubleshooting ClipOffline downloads and the MP3/MP4 plugin.
Quick-start checklist
- Install the MP3/MP4 plugin from /plugin.
- Make sure the plugin app is running.
- Retry the download from ClipOffline.com.
- Check your Downloads folder.
- Keep the browser tab open for long downloads.
Plugin not detected
- Ensure the plugin is installed and launched.
- On macOS, confirm the app is allowed to run if you see a Gatekeeper prompt.
- On Windows, confirm the app is running in the system tray.
- Refresh the page, restart your browser, and restart the plugin.
- Review /plugin and /how-it-works.
Download stuck / no progress
- Large files can take time; keep the plugin open.
- Check your internet connection and try again.
- Try a smaller quality or audio-only option.
- Restart the plugin and retry the download.
- If the source is rate-limiting, try later.
- ClipOffline does not control third-party bandwidth.
We stopped receiving updates from the plugin
- The plugin may still be downloading—check your Downloads folder.
- If no file appears, retry the download and restart the plugin.
- Re-initiate the job from ClipOffline.com if needed.
- The website only coordinates the request; the plugin does the fetching locally.
Browser didn’t open the plugin
- The browser may block the protocol open.
- Look for the “Open ClipOffline” prompt and allow it.
- Ensure pop-up blockers aren’t blocking the handoff.
- Retry the download and allow it once.
File saved somewhere else
- The default save location is your Downloads folder.
- OS and browser settings can change where files are saved.
- If you adjust download locations, confirm the chosen folder.
Private / paywalled / DRM-protected content
- ClipOffline is for content you have rights to use.
- Do not attempt to bypass paywalls or DRM.
- Some sources cannot be downloaded due to technical or legal restrictions.
Uninstalling the plugin
- macOS: quit the app, then move it to the Trash.
- Windows: uninstall it via Apps/Programs.
